WISH Team Academy Update – August 29, 2011

Posted by: Joe on: September 8, 2011

We had a great school week last week.  We are learning to manage Cole better and we’re realizing that we can get more accomplished in a day than I thought we could.  We enjoy taking Fridays off but the kids and I decided that we’ll work one Friday each month and work every Friday during Jan and Feb so we can end our year in April.  The kids finished their Eric Carle/hermit crab lapbooks two weeks ago and were able to present them to PJ when she was here.  Hopefully they’ll be able to present them to G & G sometime soon.  We all had a fun time with that unit.

Chloe

Chloe continues to study animals in science.  Chloe is going to be a history buff.  She looks forward to her history lesson and has managed to get all 100s in history so far.  The American Girl series of historical fiction has fueled her love of history.  We’ll be doing a unit study on American Girl: Felicity in November and she’s about to bust with excitement! She is currently learning an excerpt of the Declaration of Independence right now.

Clark

Clark is moving right along with his reading.  We read all the time.  He reads about 4 or 5 books a day to me.  I also read lots to him.  So when you look on his part of the lesson plan you may not see much and that’s because we spend lots of our time just reading.  He is also making progress in math.  Math doesn’t seem to be difficult for him.  He has picked it up fast so we are moving along great.

We are keeping the kids in touch with their friends.  Thursday we had lunch with Sydney at the Discovery School.  Clark went home from church with a buddy and Sydney came home with us.

That’s all for now,
